Marylhurst’s real estate curriculum prepares you to be a responsible leader in the real estate industry – especially in the realm of commercial real estate. The program is designed for working adults, and stresses the role of innovation, information and collaboration in a global economy. We emphasize the integration of current theories and practical application in key commercial real estate areas, including appraisal, finance, property management and marketing.

Complete Marylhurst’s B.S. in Real Estate Studies from anywhere. Content is entirely online and presented in five-week accelerated courses. Interaction between faculty and students is built into each course so you still get the hands-on, team-orientated environment as our on-campus students.

Transfer Credit Required
Marylhurst is a degree completion university, which means the majority of our undergraduate students transfer in their lower-division credits. The B.S. in Real Estate Studies is no exception, and requires that you transfer in a minimum of 50 credits before starting your major degree coursework. This also allows you to complete your lower-division courses at a community college (at a lower cost) and then go right into the major and finish within two years.
Real Estate Degree Requirements: What You Will Study
To earn your bachelor’s in Real Estate Studies from Marylhurst, you will complete 180-quarter credits (through a combination of courses and by transferring in credits). The degree requirements feature three main areas:
Major requirements (90 credits)
- Foundation courses – you will take courses that provide fundamentals in business and real estate. Sample course titles include:
- Business Writing and Communication
- Statistics for Managers
- Information Technology Strategies
- Business Economics
- Real Estate Courses – in-depth coursework in real estate studies. Sample course titles include:
- Laws and Regulations Governing Real Estate
- Beyond Raw Land
- Real Estate Development Process
- Real Estate as a Profession
- Investment Strategies
- Capstone Paper
You will take one course in applied management principles and within the course, write a comprehensive capstone paper highlighting your real estate study as a final element of your degree program.
Marylhurst Core (4 credits)
The majority of your lower-division courses will be transferred in before you start this program. You will take the remaining fundamental coursework focused on the applied liberal arts such as communication skills, critical thinking, writing, problem-solving and leadership.
General electives (86 credits)
Choose courses outside of Real Estate Studies from Marylhurst’s diverse undergraduate programs to better define your career focus. Most Marylhurst incoming students transfer in credit from their previous college work or through our Prior Learning Assessment program.
