Join the ranks of licensed single-subject teachers who have chosen to further their skill-set in teaching specific P-12 subject areas. Education professionals earning their Single-Subject Content Area Endorsement may choose to focus their studies in the following subjects:
- Social Studies
- Language Arts
Students enrolled in a Master of Art in Teaching or Master of Education degree program who have, or are earning a teaching license, may also pursue a Single-Subject Content Area Endorsement while completing their master’s program.
To earn the Single-Subject Content Area Endorsement, you’ll be asked to complete between 2-7 credits in coursework relating to teaching and learning in middle and high school classrooms. The curriculum emphasizes the conceptualization, design, planning, organization and assessment of instruction within your selected content area.
You may apply and begin the Single-Subject Content Area Endorsement program four times a year, with classes beginning fall, winter, spring and summer terms. If you are a Master of Art in Teaching or Master of Education student, you may also earn this endorsement while you complete your standard master’s degree plan.
If you have any questions about this endorsement, connect with our Office of Admissions by requesting more information or emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
