Tara McGarry is a licensed clinical health psychologist. She received her doctorate from Antioch University Seattle in 2016. She also has her masters in art therapy counseling, which she received from Marylhurst University in 2010. Her clinical orientation is from a person/patient-centered perspective and biopsychosocial approach.
Dr. McGarry specializes in behavioral health, working with physicians and medical staff to assist patients with health and mental health concerns. She has worked with a wide variety of populations in various settings including; VA hospitals, community mental health organizations, memory care units, therapeutic day schools, independent living, inpatient psychiatric hospitals, residential facilities, methadone clinics, pain clinics, pediatric primary care, family medicine, and oncology units in hospitals.
In addition to her continued work with patients in the medical field, Dr. McGarry is the interim program director of Marylhurst’s new MA program in Mental Health Counseling. She also leads Marylhurst’s undergraduate psychology department.
