Fleming McCarville Named Pastoral Associate

Fleming McCarville, Marylhurst UniversityM.Div. student Fleming McCarville was named pastoral associate at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Parish.

St. Francis is a Portland urban parish in an industrial and residential neighborhood. The self-described vibrant, justice-oriented parish is a welcoming congregation, with a special outreach to the poor and marginalized. People come to St. Francis from not only the surrounding Buckman neighborhood but Washington State and Clackamas, Washington, and Multnomah counties.

In her role as pastoral associate, Fleming will support parish staff and help advance community organizing activities. She will work alongside Pastor Administrator Valerie Chapman, who also teaches religious studies at Marylhurst University.

Fleming is working on her master’s thesis involving research on the Passion of Christ, and she is on track to complete her Master of Divinity degree in 2017.
