Dr. Jan Carpenter, education department chair, co-edited a handbook on partnerships for teacher preparation programs, Clinical Preparation at the Middle Level: Practices and Possibilities.
The text, published by Information Age Publishing in January 2016, highlights partnerships between schools and teacher preparation programs where candidates have opportunities to learn in their coursework alongside teachers in the classroom in clinical settings, bridging the theory‐practice divide and helping candidates better understand the simultaneous and multi‐dimensional nature of teaching and learning in schools.
The handbook is divided into three sections: Beginning and Shaping a Partnership, Examining Established Partnerships, and Sustaining Partnerships.
Dr. Carpenter edited the first section on beginning and shaping partnerships, and she contributed to the introduction and “concluding thoughts.”
Information Age Publishing is a social science publisher of academic and scholarly book series, monographs, handbooks, encyclopedia and journals. IAP’s goal is to develop a comprehensive collection of materials that break down and define specific niches that lack high-level research material in education, psychology, management, leadership, educational technology and other fields.
