Kevin Lawson Installed as Minister

Kevin Lawson, Class of 2013, Marylhurst UniversityM.Div. alum Kevin Lawson ’13 was installed as minister of Beacon Unitarian Universalist Congregation, a liberal faith community in Flagstaff, Ariz., in March 2017.

Kevin Lawson was chosen by the congregation’s board after a nationwide search. Shortly after his arrival in Flagstaff, board president Carol Hixson said, “Kevin has proven himself to be an energetic, creative, gregarious and thoughtful addition to our congregation.”

Jerry Roussell, Jr., director of religious studies programs at Marylhurst University, agreed. “Kevin is a man of peace, kindness and compassion,” Dr. Roussell said. “He will serve the church community and the people in his congregation bringing them together as family – brothers and sisters all – whoever they are and whatever their backgrounds.”

Beacon Unitarian Universalist Congregation is in its 58th year, committed to providing a liberal faith community in Flagstaff. The congregation’s mission is to be a welcoming faith community that embraces diverse thought and belief and builds a just, peaceful and compassionate world.

Kevin Lawson earned his Master of Divinity from Marylhurst University in 2013.
