Kristin Retherford, MBA in Sustainable Business, was named Urban Development Director for the City of Salem in December 2015.
In this role, Retherford’s priorities include working with the community and council to determine the next investments for Salem’s Riverfront Downtown, North Gateway and West Salem urban renewal areas. She will also lend her leadership to ongoing efforts to retain and grow existing businesses as well as attract businesses to Mill Creek and the Salem Renewable Energy Technology Center.
Retherford has a broad and specialized background that includes business retention and recruitment, urban renewal, real estate development and capital project management. Since 2004, she has served as a project manager, urban renewal manager and economic development manager for the City of Wilsonville. In addition to her role in economic development and urban renewal, she was responsible for Wilsonville’s capital improvement program and managing several important capital improvement projects.
Kristin Retherford earned her MBA in Sustainable Business from Marylhurst University in 2014. She serves as president of the Oregon Economic Development Association, president of the Association of Oregon Redevelopment Agencies and member of Team Oregon’s Advanced Manufacturing Steering Committee.
