Marylhurst alum Kristy Athens ’15 was recently named business advisor for Wallowa County’s Small Business Development Center in Enterprise, Ore.
Kristy Athens is one of two new advisors added to the team in an effort to expand services to the small business owner in Northeastern Oregon. In her role, Kristy provides confidential, one-on-one advising to proprietors, at any and all stages of developing their small businesses. Consulting services include advice on business plan development, counseling, training and more.
Like all Small Business Development Center advisors, Kristy has extensive knowledge and experience as an entrepreneur herself. The author of Get Your Pitchfork On!: The Real Dirt on Country Living (Process Media), Kristy has been a freelance writer, editor and project manager for 20+ years. Her areas of expertise include start-up businesses, public relations, marketing and alternative financing.
“Wallowa County is a very special place that requires people to be flexible and creative in order to find success,” she said. “I love helping others formulate a plan to make a life here.”
The Wallowa County Small Business Development Center, hosted by Blue Mountain Community College and located in the Wallowa Resources building on NE First Street in Enterprise, received national accreditation from America’s SBDC in 2016.
Kristy Athens earned her M.S. in Food Systems and Society from Marylhurst University in 2015.
