Dr. Melody Rose, president of Marylhurst University, will join a panel for the Eight That Can’t Wait Discussion: Public/Private Glass Ceiling at Portland’s Center for Philanthropy on Jan. 24, 2017.
In 2016, the Women’s Foundation of Oregon released Count Her In, the most comprehensive report on the status of women and girls in 20 years. The report identified “Eight That Can’t Wait” areas of urgent concern for Oregon’s women and girls. Join the Women’s Foundation of Oregon for a community discussion on the public/private glass ceiling in Oregon and what can be done to address it.
Dr. Rose will be a featured panelist, along with Laura Isiordia, executive director, CAPACES Leadership Institute; Jillian Schoene, executive director, Emerge Oregon; and Jessica Vega-Pederson, Oregon State Representative, House District 47.
Refreshments provided. The event is free and open to the public ($15 suggested donation).
Dr. Melody Rose is the 15th president of Marylhurst University and a nationally recognized scholar of women and politics. She is also the founder and first director of the Center for Women, Politics & Policy. Dr. Rose has authored a number of award-winning books, articles and chapters on the U.S. presidency, social policy, women and politics and elections. Her fourth book, an edited volume entitled Women and Executive Office: Pathways and Performance, was published during the 2012 elections. She was a 2013 Portland Business Journal Women of Influence honoree, and she received the 2010 Governor’s Women of Achievement Award. She served as president of the City Club of Portland in 2011-12, and she is an active member of the International Women’s Forum.
